Ports and Harbours

Corrosion surveys, cathodic protection, and ALWC prevention for marine structures, including quay walls, jetties, and berthing facilities.

Accelerated Low Water Corrosion (ALWC) is a widespread phenomenon that can result in rapid section loss of both sheet steel and tubular steel sections at the lower tidal levels.

Steel structures that are buried, immersed or exposed to the air in a marine environment may also require corrosion protection measures.

Corrosion Prevention Limited has extensive experience of designing cathodic protection systems to combat ALWC, for both existing and new structures. Such systems may be galvanic anodes or impressed current systems, and we can offer advice on the most suitable solution.

In addition to the deterioration of steel structures, reinforced concrete marine structures such as jetties and wharves, marine bridges and tunnels can all suffer from corrosion damage arising from chloride ingress due to their location.

Corrosion Prevention Limited can assess structures for corrosion risk, and undertake investigative and quantitative surveys. We can then conduct feasibility studies and trial installations of prospective systems, and design and specify the appropriate corrosion management solution.
